How Beef Sharing Works...

    Choose your size & pay the deposit or pay in full.

    To help choose your size please see our helpful chart on the FAQ's page to help you determine how much beef you are going to need.

  • Step 2:

    We'll consult with you on cuts, choose your processing date, and answer any questions you may have.

  • Step 3:

    You'll pay your remaining balance if there is one & schedule your shipping.

  • Step 4:

    You'll be notified when your beef ships and when it is scheduled for delivery.

    Beef is shipped with dry ice using either second-day air or overnight service. The dry ice will keep it frozen for up to four days.

What do you mean by farmers you can trust?

We are the Johnson family, and I'm Shane. We're committed to providing you with beef you can trust, and we do things the old-fashioned way.

We ethically raise our cattle in humane conditions on open grass pastures with ample access to water and salt. This allows the cattle to express their natural behavior instead of being restricted to muddy, overcrowded pens or feedlots. We do everything on horseback—not with ATVs or side-by-sides—to avoid startling or upsetting the cattle.

Our ranch uses regenerative farming practices, working with the land instead of taking advantage of it.

Why Grass-Fed, Grain-Finished Beef?

Most beef producers don't share the full story about how their cattle are raised. At Walking J Ranch, we value transparency, which is why we clearly state that our beef is grass-fed and grain-finished.

We love letting our cattle roam the pastures and eat grass. During the final few months before processing, we slowly transition them to non-GMO grains to finish them.

This process creates savory, robust flavor and develops the marbling that makes beef taste great.

Grass-fed, grass-finished cattle produce leaner beef that can have a slightly gamey flavor. Despite grocery-store labels that say “grass-fed,” the cattle are often grain-finished.
